Abstract

Development of three variants of electroinsulating barriers between liquid metal (lithium) and fusion blanket walls are described: (1) Two-layered or multi-layered metal-ceramic barriers obtained with deposition/spraying technique; (2) Ceramic and ceramic/metal-clad barriers; (3) Multi-layered metal-ceramic barriers obtained by baking technology. Results of preliminary tests—thermal cycling in vacuum at 20–650 °C and exposure in liquid lithium at 600 and 650 °C—are reported.
