Abstract

Hybridization of energy sources provides better reliability and flexibility for the power generation system. To integrate different sources, a suitable power electronic interface and a power management strategy are mandatory requirements. In this paper, two types of dual‐input–single‐output DC–DC converters to integrate two different V‐I characteristic sources for DC microgrid application are presented. The analysis of the converters based on the voltage and current stress of the power switches available in the circuit has been carried out for the appropriate selection of power switches. The software simulation of the proposed converters is performed on a MATLAB/Simulink platform in a detailed manner, and an experimental prototype of the presented converters has been built to validate the simulation results. The experimental results are well matched with the simulation results, which demonstrate the efficient performance of the converters. © 2018 Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.
