Abstract

Fashion Information and Analysis course is the advance course of Fashion Design course at Fashion Design and Management of Taiwan University of Technology. This study depended on the participants' academic scores of Fashion Design course that they have taken previously. Stadents were divided into two groups that included 60 participants experimental group and control group and the mean score of academic score of Fashion Design were equal between the two groups. The experimental group was treated with a Computer Assisted Learning (CAL) module for fashion design instruction, while control group was not. The reasons of this study utilizing Static-group Comparison Design were the mean score of academic score of Fashion Design were equal between the two groups and the participants were those who never learned the concept mapping before. This study also used the Delphi technique to develop the Fashion Design Performance Assessment (FDPA) rubric for assessing the effectiveness of the application of a MAL module in fashion design instruction. The inter-rater reliability of using the FDPA rubrics was also incorporated. The researcher used ADDIE model to develop the CAL module e for fashion design. Results from data analysis indicated there was a statistically significant difference between the experimental group and the control group in the fashion design concept map scores while there was not a statistically significant difference between the experimental group and the control group in the fashion design collection drawing scores. These results appear to indicate that fashion design knowledge as indicated in the concept mapping as verbal information can be promoted through the CAL module for the targeted sample while the fashion design collection of drawing as an intellectual skill cannot be promoted through the CAL module instruction for the targeted sample. Additionally, this research project confirms high inter-rater reliability of using the FDPA rubrics developed by the Delphi technique to be an objective assessing fashion design performance.
