Abstract

AbstractThe Department of Defense's (DOD) conservation program has long used partnerships with federal and state agencies, conservation organizations, and other groups to promote resource stewardship, increase public awareness and appropriate use of resources, improve quality of life, encourage volunteer opportunities, and improve management efficiencies. This article describes some of DOD's most successful conservation partnerships; explores what makes a good partnership; summarizes the benefits of these partnerships; and suggests some possible trends in future conservation partnerships. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
