Abstract

Is it possible to communicate the rich and value laden middle school concept to preservice teachers through an online learning experience? Can teachers learn the concepts and skills necessary to implement an effective middle school program through computer-based instruction? Many are skeptical, but our experience at Marshall University Graduate College has shown that it can be done. The online preservice training approach at Marshall University Graduate College is a delivery of middle level preservice development through a net work environment. We refer to it as a preservice training program predicated on the fact that these are inservice teachers from either a junior high or elementary background with no prior training in middle level education.
