Abstract

The objective of this study was to develop an economic indicator system for the US hotel industry to project the industry's growth and turning points. By conducting a comprehensive literature review, and by using National Bureau of Economic Research turning point criteria and statistical correlation method, 12 leading, 10 coincident, and 10 lagging indicators were identified. The performances of the indicator system demonstrated that the system has great potential as a forecasting method.
