Abstract

This article—the first of a two part series—shares with practitioners, commissioners and policy makers our experiences of developing a clinical pathway that can aid the recovery of people who are experiencing complicated grief symptoms. The article begins with a discussion that highlights and analyses the range of grief issues that may present in primary care. Complicated grief is not currently recognised as a distinct diagnostic condition. The article suggests that this may influence the accurate assessment of clinical need and subsequent treatment and recovery. This article has been written to share our experiences of developing a clinical pathway that can aid the recovery of people who are experiencing complicated grief symptoms
