Abstract

The Magnitogorsk Metallurgical Combine has developed and introduced a method of x-ray fluorescent determination of the mass proportions of ferric oxide in the range 0.3-6.5% in clays from the Arkalyksk and Berlinsk deposits, and in finished firebrick, employing the BARS-3 noncrystal analyzer. The method is based on the excitation of secondary fluorescent radiation containing the characteristic x-ray line for iron and is intended for testing production processes and finished goods. Verification procedures against metering standards were carried out and are described. A two-factor equation was devised for data processing purposes. Computer requirements are discussed.
