Abstract
We propose a new method for the determination of transition probabilities using a laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) technique. With this method, the transition probability is derived from the saturation behavior of the LIF signal. The method does not require knowledge of the upper- and lower-level populations and is applicable to transitions with predissociating upper states. Application of the method to Ar and SiH transition shows that the transition probabilities obtained are consistent with those derived by using other methods.
