Abstract
The problem of reducing the wear of the cutting tool in the process of metal cutting are presented. The features of the use of lubricating and cooling fl uids as one of the most common method of increasing the effi ciency of machining are considered. The results of a study of the tribological characteristics of the lubricant cooling liquids (coolant) when tested according to the scheme "roller-shoe" are presented. Not only comparative tests of different types of coolant were carried out, but also to obtain experimental dependencies of the coeffi cient of friction on the strength of mutual pressing of samples for different concentrations were obtained. Recommendations on the choice of coolant to improve the efficiency of the metal machining process are given.
