Abstract

AbstractIn the standard investigation methods of the spin–lattice relaxation of paramagnetic ions in crystals the measured time constant of the relaxation process is the spin–bath relaxation time Teff. If a phonon bottleneck exists, the spin–lattice relaxation time T1 does no longer equal Teff. A method is proposed for determining T1, which is still valid if a phonon bottleneck exists.
