Abstract
The influence of shear stress on adherent BHK cells was investigated. In order to determine the “critical shear stress level”, the influence of shear stress between 0.5 and 4.5 N/m2 on the morphology, the viability, the LDH-release and the size distribution was studied. First effects on these parameters were observed within the range of 1.4 and 1.7 N/m2, which seemed to be the critical level for an exposure duration of 24 hours.
