Abstract
A very rapid method determining lead in gasoline without preliminary treatment is provided by the flame photometer. However, it usually depends upon the availability of an unleaded sample of the gasoline bare stock. A method is described whereby it should become possible, with the single beam apparatus attached a stopper, to use lithium naphthenate as an internal standard in comparing different stocks, without recourse to unlead blanks or more than one standard. It takes 5 minutes to determine lead in gasoline, and accuracy is 0.02ml. per gallon.
