Abstract
Sufficient and economical power supply is important for an islanded operation mode with renewable energy. This paper deals with the problem of optimizing photovoltaic (PV) and wind turbine (WT) capacities from the point of view of power supply reliability as well as economics. Meteorological data is analyzed, and then PV and WT capacities are optimized to supply the load reliably. The optimization is also discussed when the load profile is changes. Short-term power system operation is also analyzed. Several different cities in China with different climate features are simulated.
