Abstract

A cyclic voltammetric method is described for the determination of formaldehyde in 0.1 N sodium hydroxide solution using a gold rotating disc electrode. The method exhibits a relative error of 1% and relative standard deviation of less than 3%. It has been applied to the determination of free formaldehyde in melamine formaldehyde resin, the results obtained are more accurate than those given by Tollens method.
