Abstract

Benzoxazine resin is a high-performance thermosetting resin that limits its use in ablative materials due to limitations such as toughness and high curing temperature. This work intends to investigate the effect of the introduction of poly (bisphenol-A borate) (PBAB) into benzoxazine coating on the curing kinetics and thermal stability. The curing reaction of benzoxazine coating in the presence of poly (bisphenol-A borate) was catalyzed by facilitating the oxazine ring opening. The kinetic of the cure was investigated by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC); then, the data were fitted and compared utilizing the Kissinger, Ozawa, and Borchardt-Daniels methods, which allow for determining the kinetic parameters of this system. Also, the results of thermo-gravimetric analysis (TGA) showed that with increasing the percentage of PBAB, thermal stability and char yield of composite increase significantly.
