Abstract

1. For prolonged service loads on sandy soils in bases, and in the absence, during the service period, of piping phenomena, of inadmissible vibrodynamic actions on these soils, and of any types of disturbances of their integrity below the building foundations, the soil properties are improved, as a rule, and the bearing capacity is increased. It is advisable to take these circumstances into account so as to lower the construction costs. 2. The improvement of the construction properties of soils in bases for this work can be taken into account by determining the increased design pressure by applying Eq. (5), with $$R_{\psi _S }$$ obtained from Eqs. (2)–(4), and the coefficient KE from Tables 1 and 2.
