Abstract

We propose a non-local speudo-potential to describe free-electron—neon-atom interaction, which reproduces the experimental scattering phase shifts with mean accuracy better than 2, 6 and 10% for l = 0, 1 and 2 symmetry, respectively. Care is taken to dissociate in this description the exchange and the electrostatic contributions of the polarization contributions for all electron —atom distances, especially for the asymptotic behaviour ( r→O). This last aspect represents a new and original contribution to the modeling of e—rare-gas interactions.
