Abstract

Bamboo species in Mexico have shown specific advantages, due to their multiple uses and rapid growth. Guaduainermis is arobust, structural species with filled culms that make it have great commercial potential. According to this, the purpose of thepresent study was to determine the probability of occurrence of G.inermis, based on three alternatives for the selection of 21environmental variables, for which presence records were used. The generated model defined a good fit with the training data(presence records), since its AUC value was greater than 0.90, implying that the model is better than a random estimate. Thepotential distribution of this species is mainly influenced by altitude (ELEV), so it is found in areas close to coastal regions.Likewise, annual precipitation (BIO12) stood out in the definition of distribution, as did evapotranspiration (ETP) and averageannual temperature (BIO1). This was independent of the three arrangements of environmental variables that were tested. In general, this species of bamboo is in the Gulf of Mexico area and in a smaller portion in the Pacific region. It is noted that the results of thiswork should be interpreted as a good separation between the ideal areas and the inadequate areas for this species of Guadua nativeto Mexico.
