Abstract

The mechanical properties of steel material will deteriorate at elevated temperatures. However, previously research focus on the normal mild steel. In this study, high temperature tensile tests were performed on novel constructional steel material, namely high strength steel, cold-formed steel and stainless steel. The elastic modulus, yield strength, tensile strength as well as stress-strain curves at elevated temperatures were obtained and compared with those of normal mild steel. Design equations for complete stress-strain curves of tested steel material at elevated temperatures were summarized, which could be used in fire resistant design.
