Abstract

Background Measurement of plasma D-Dimer (fibrinogen degradation product) levels is an easy & effective modality of ruling out deep vein thrombosis in post-operative patients. The present study intended to evaluate the diagnostic reliability of D-dimer assay in detecting deep vein thrombosis in post-operative general surgical patients by following the assay with a Doppler sonography in the same setting.
