Abstract

Colletotrichum sp., the cause of leaf‐curl disease of cultivated anemones in south‐west England, was detected in anemone tissue by means of an indirect enzyme‐linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The method had a lower detection limit of less than 100 ng/ml (dry weight pure mycelium) and was specific enough for the detection of the pathogen in host tissue. The potential of the method in indexing anemone corms and also in the detection of a new disease of strawberries is discussed.
