Abstract

In the current work, Junctionless (JL) FinFET is used for detection of poisonous gases-Hexane (C6H14), Methanol (CH3OH), Iso-proponal (Iso-C3H7OH), Dichloromethane (CH2Cl2) and Chloroform (CHCl3) present in the environment. The basic principle used to detect these poisonous gases is change in the work-function of gate electrode which is made using conducting polymer. P-polyphenylene is used as conducting polymer (CP) for gate electrode of JL FinFET. The work-function modulation of the CP gate results in alteration of the electrical parameters which can be further used for gas detection. Surface potential, transfer characteristics, threshold voltage, output conductance and transconductance are the different electrical characteristics which are analyzed using designed poisonous gas sensor. High sensitivity in terms of surface potential and threshold voltage has been achieved for detection of various poisonous gases.
