Woodgate, B. E. ; Lucke, R. L. ; Socker, D. G. Abstract The forbidden Fe X 6374-A red coronal line has been detected in the supernova remnant IC 443, showing the presence of a 1 million degree gas. Its leading edge occurs behind the optical filaments. This is consistent with a shock wave's being strongly decelerated by a density gradient.
