Abstract

Calculations are performed which show that results of measurements of surface beta activity with conventional counters are less than the actual values. The error due to absorption in the detector window in the case of contamination with reactor coolant and in the case of an accident is estimated. An on-site procedure for data correction is proposed and tested with planar beta sources. The procedure is an easy one and does not require any additional equipment
