Abstract

This paper proposes a design of a photonic crystal fiber (PCF) with ultra-high birefringence (0.0262 at 1550nm) which is more useful for sensor based on fiber optics. The finite element method (FEM) is used for simulation with 0.6 μm as the perfectly matched boundary layer (PML). This proposed design will offer the characteristics of nonzero-dispersion-shifted fiber (NZ-DSF) for 550nm waveband with very high non-linearity (50.86 w−1km−1) at 1550nm.
