Abstract

In 2014, Commissariat à l'Energie Atomique et aux Energies Alternatives (Saclay, France) launched the studies to deliver a superconducting linac (SCL) for SARAF-Phase II accelerator in order to accelerate a 5-mA beam of either protons from 1.3 to 35 MeV or deuterons from 2.6 to 40 MeV. The SCL consists of four cryomodules. The first two cryomodules will host six and seven half-wave resonator (HWR) low beta cavities (beta = 0.09) at 176 MHz. The last two cryomodules will host seven HWR high-beta cavities (beta = 0.18) at the same frequency. The prototypes were qualified in 2019 and 2021. The series manufacturing is ongoing. This article presents the design steps of these cavities, at the very beginning of the project, and presents results for prototypes and series.
