Abstract

This paper described the design of microstrip array antenna with operating frequency at 5.8 GHz. The antenna element is realized by the single-layer inset-fed patch antenna with the size of antenna element determined by the operating frequency. The proposed array antenna consists of 12 elements, with all elements arranged symmetrically on two concentric circles. The array factor is calculated by Matlab and compared with the simulated results obtained by the electromagnetic simulation software, which shows a good agreement. The simulated peak gain of the array is 17.56 dBi. The simulation and measured results in this paper can provide a design reference for the practical design of circular array antennas.
