Abstract
Abstract A design technique for two-dimensional recursive circularly symmetric digital filters with finite wordlength coefficients is presented. A non-linear optimization method (Fletcher-Powell) is used to obtain the filter design with infinite wordlength coefficients, and then the filter coefficients are truncated to a specific number of bits. An optimization algorithm is used to minimize the performance error caused by truncation of the filter coefficients.
