Abstract
The Smart Grid is an improvement of the old electrical power grid that operates mostly in one — way flow of power. The Smart Grid can work in a two — way system using advanced technology. The Smart Grid includes a monitoring system that can record all the electricity flows in the power grid, as well as the ability to control the switching, relays, and circuit breakers of the power grid with the use of automation and communication system. This improvement will have an increase economic growth of the NCR. The Design Project deals with remodelling of the NCR power grid, designing a transmission line communication system and designing a Smart Monitoring system. Design Constraints was considered and trade — off analysis was done to choose the optimal design. The Smart Grid model was simulated using EDSA PALADIN Design Base 5 and the monitoring system was programmed using MATLAB GUI Function.
