Abstract
This paper shows the comparative analysis of conventional rectangular patch sensor with proposed rounded corner planar sensor. In proposed sensor, rounded corners and rectangular slots are embedded on the patch along with defective ground structure (DGS), giving good return loss at resonating frequency fr=2.4 GHz. Based on the simulation results, it gives good approximation about the dielectric material. The shift in resonance frequency is observed when material under test of different permittivity$\left(\epsilon_r=1-10.2\right)$ is placed over it. This sensor is supposed to design for the soil moisture analysis and dielectric material characterization. The proposed sensor offers high percent relative frequency shift with different permittivity material.
