Abstract

This paper presents a new precision time interval measurement technique, and designed the precision time interval counter product of the international advanced level and independent intellectual property rights. Precise time measurement is the basic requirements of precision time comparison and synchronization. It is also the key technology of large systems and advanced precision instruments. And it can improve the level of measuring distance, location and precision strike. Designing the precision time interval counter and mastering the key technologies have far-reaching practical significance to enhancing the originality of technology, promoting technological progress and developing the industrial equipment. In order to achieve precision optical propagation delay compensation in high-precision fiber time and frequency transmission research, we must have a precise measurement on fiber time transmission delay, but the existing time interval measurement equipment can not meet this demand. We have designed the “NTSC312 precision time interval counter”, which can measure the time interval, pulse width and pulse period. This instrument measuring range is from 1 ns to 1 s, and its measurement resolution is 1 ps, with the measurement accuracy better than 10 ps. This indicator is better than that of SR620 which is commonly used. Currently, we have applied it to the research of high precision fiber time and frequency transmission. And a good effect has been achieved.
