Abstract

This paper presents a compact minkowski patch antenna for raising return loss as well as reducing mutual coupling for MIMO systems. A major limiting factor of MIMO systems is mutual coupling which arises mainly due to the smaller spacing between multiple antennas. Mutual coupling is the one of the parameter to diminish channel capacity to describe the inclusive presentation of system. Hence proposed MIMO system which resonates at first resonant 2.5 GHz, second one resonate at 3.5 GHz, third one resonate at 5.2 GHz and finally resonant at 7.0 GHz observed that an improvement in bandwidth as well as reduction in mutual coupling have 54 dB, 50 dB, 40 dB and 44 dB can be observed in the simulation results. These results were better when compared to the existing systems. As such this proposed system is applicable in the area of WLAN (2.4 GHz–2.5 GHz/5.2 GHz–5.8 GHz) and WiMAX (2.3 GHz–2.6 GHz/3.3 GHz–3.8 GHz/5.7 GHz–5.85 GHz).
