Abstract

In this paper, millimeter-wave transmitter based on FPGA is designed. The transmitter consists of intermediate frequency (IF) module, local oscillator (LO) module and mixing module. The IF module consists of an FPGA and two DACs, FPGA and DAC communicate through the JESD204B protocol to output multi-channel IF signals. The LO module is a VCO evaluation board that provides LO signal for mixing module. The mixing module is a PCB board that mainly includes four mixers and a power divider. The mixing module uses LO signal to upconvert IF signal to the millimeter-wave band. Tests show that the FPGA can realize the phase adjustment of digital baseband signal. The DAC can adjust the frequency of IF signal by numerically controlled oscillator (NCO). The mixing module can upconvert IF signal to millimeter-wave band. The transmitter designed in this paper can be applied to the 5G millimeter-wave antenna array.
