Abstract

A printed monopole antenna was proposed to resonant at different frequencies to cover a wideband of applications. By introducing a stub with the partial ground, the monopole antenna resonated at 4.24GHz to 5.04 GHz with a bandwidth of 800MHz, and 6.34GHz to 8.24 GHz with a bandwidth of 1900MHz. When another asymmetric stub was introduced then resonant bands have been increased in the range 4.37GHz to 5.22GHz, 6.11 GHz to 7.80 GHz, 9.49GHz to 10.41GHz, and 12.11 GHz to 13.06 GHz with a return loss of nearly -20dB in all the bands. To improve the return loss, the ground plane was replaced by a metasurface planar structure, a good return loss with much wider bands from4.43 GHz to 7.22GHz, 6.14 GHz to 8.04 GHz, and 13.54 GHz to 16.64 GHz with bandwidth ranging from 900MHz to 4310MHz with maximum gain of 1.9dB where achieved, which makes monopole antenna to be operated at C, X and Ku band applications such as Satellite communication, Weather Radar System, Military Satellite Communication.
