Abstract

Recently a number of techniques to design sparse-array antenna have been introduced by many researchers. Various deterministic synthesis methods have been reported for both uniform and non-uniform amplitude linear array. In this paper, a new approach of linear sparse array design by using spacing coefficients based on the Taylor line source distribution is proposed. This approach is a simple deterministic procedure to reduce side lobe level (SLL) as well as computational time demands. The proposed technique is validated to properly match diverse beam pattern linear sparse array configurations with no recurring global optimization. The numerical result shows that the radiation performances of the proposed sparse array design method improve compared to the full array radiation performances with identical spatial antenna dimension.
