Abstract

A high power gain low noise amplifier (LNA) is usually required for ultra-wideband systems (UWB) based on TSMC 0.18μm CMOS technology is reported. In this paper, current-reuse technology is applied with LC low-pass filter (LPF) for reduce power consumption. Cascode amplifier provides power gain to solve low power gain at middle band frequency. The LNA circuit achieves high power gain (|S 21 |) of 20.54dB with input return loss (|S 11 |) better than −12.15dB, output return loss (|S 22 |) better than −11.99dB and noise figure (NF) of 4.3dB ± 0.69dB for frequencies 3.1-10.6 GHz. The fabricated LNA occupies a die area of 1.198 × 0.952 mm2including pads and draw 10.87mW from 1.3-V dc supply. The figure of merit (FoM) is 11.26.
