Abstract

a power supply is an essential one of all other electronic devices. A switching mode power supply is a light weight power solution for most modern electronic equipment. The high frequency transformer is the backbone of modern switched mode power supply. The skin and proximity effects are the major problems in high frequency transformer design, because of induced eddy currents. Winding structures of power transformers are also a critical part of transformer design and manufacture, especially for high frequency applications. In this paper, design of minimum size of high frequency center tap transformer and LC filter for switching mode power supply (SMPS) is proposed and then used in DC/DC converter. The maximum flux of the transformer was calculated, and in order to prevent the increase of iron losses, special core material is used; in the meantime the equations of the design are proved and simulated using PSIM program.
