Abstract

In this paper, the current conveyors, up-down counter, and ultra high-speed D/A converter are employed to achieve the fast frequency-to-voltage converter (FVC). Based on the successive-approximation technique, the proposed FVC has short overall response time and does not require any matched components. The transient variations of input signal frequency can be detected. The output voltage is inversely proportional to the input signal frequency. The input signal frequency range from 50 Hz to 2 MHz is tested. The output ripple voltage is verified so little that no low-pass filter is needed. The experimental results demonstrate the static and dynamic characteristics of proposed FVC.
