Abstract

An eco-cruise control (ECC) system for electric vehicles is proposed in this paper to reduce the energy consumption using the road slope information which can be included as known disturbances in the dynamic programming (DP) to improve the energy efficiency. DP is employed to obtain the optimal velocity profile for minimizing the cost function which consists of energy consumption, travel time, velocity deviation, and braking power. Simulation results show that the proposed ECC can effectively improve the energy economy than that of the conventional cruise control (CCC) on hilly roads.
