Abstract

In this paper, the design of circular monopole antenna for Long Term Evolution (LTE) and Ultra-wideband (UWB) applications is presented with a partial ground plane which having good reflection coefficient. The proposed antenna consists of a circular shape microstrip patch on a dielectric material called FR4 with ground plane modifications. This study, we concern on two types of the ground plane structure, in term of rectangular and semicircular, especially, a slot beneath feed line, in two variations: rectangular and elliptical slot. The numerical optimization technique used in the antenna that given by using varying parameters of all case. The results indicate that the elliptical slot on the semicircular ground plane is optimal values in respect of the reflection coefficient and bandwidth which covered the range of Long-term Evolution (1.71 to 1.88 GHz) and UWB (3.1 to 10.6 GHz).
