Abstract

This paper proposed a new frequency selective surface (FSS) structure with micro-elements modulation for radome design based on the scanning independence of slot array in the theoretical analysis. This new type of FSS structure puts the micro-elements on both sides of double-layer hexagon slot arrays FSS for modulation to realize broadband high-transmission and to reduce radar cross section (RCS) of antennas. Simulated and measured results indicate that the proposed FSS structure can provide stable broadband high-transmission frequency responses for both horizontal (TM) and vertical (TE) polarization under incident angles from 0 to 60 degree.
