Abstract

Automatic lane change function is not only the premise of realizing overtaking, automatic off-ramp and lane merging, but also the premise of improving the automatic driving function in highway or expressway. The lane change control has a strong complexity in that the lane change procedure involves vehicle horizontal, vertical control and speed adjustment, which is also affected by driver analysis, insufficient driving skills and changeable environment. Based on ECE R79, this paper thoroughly analyzes the key technologies of automatic lane change, including lane change intention generation, lane change feasibility analysis, lane change procedure. Experimental results verify the validity of the automatic lane change system using pragmatic road test data, which can provide references for the design of automatic lane change system and further benefit the implementations of the connected and automated vehicles.
