Abstract

With development of digital signal processing, the bandwidth of underlying signal becomes broader. It requires that the acquisition system must be with high sampling rate. In this paper, we propose a design of high-speed acquisition system, which is with real time sampling rate of 5Gsps and mass storage based on PCI extension for instrument (PXI) bus. The system sampler uses multi-core analog-to-digital converter (ADC) parallel sampling and combines accurate sampling clock to have enough effective bits under the premise of ensuring high real-time sampling rate. Using Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) to collect high-speed samples from ADC. In FPGA, serial to parallel module decreases the data rate. In order to improve the capability of capturing transient signals, the trigger detection unit is designed to control the storage operation. In addition, the design of mass data storage enhances the ability of data acquisition system to capture high speed signals. Consequently, improve the detail analysis ability of the system. The designed system has been tested with satisfactory results.
