Abstract

AbstractA novel wide and multiband aperture‐stacked patch antenna is presented. It consists of a single microstrip patch with two pairs of slits, resonant aperture, and a thin reflector patch to reduce the back radiation. By the proper choice of slit length, the required multiband characteristics including the small patch size (∼0.25 λo) are realized. By controlling the spacing between the aperture and reflector, the front‐to‐back ratio at upper frequency band can be optimized. Improved radiation characteristics with high gain (5.9–9.0 dBi) have also been observed. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
