Abstract
A highly selective frequency selective absorber (FSR) with a tuning transmission window is presented in this paper. The represented FSR possesses a highly selective transmission window between two wide absorption bands. The FSR is composed of one bandpass lossy layer and one lossless frequency selective surface (FSS). By introducing the varactor diodes along with the extra bias network into the structure, the tunable capability can be realized. Changing the varactor capacitance from 0.12 to 1.0 pF, the center frequency of the passband will be tuned from 4.65 GHz to 2.12 GHz with a low insertion loss less than 1.5 dB. The fractional bandwidth with <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\vert \mathrm{S}11\vert < -10\ \text{dB}$</tex> is 110.34% from 1.95 to 6.75 GHz. The polarization-insensitive design enables the FSR to have the same frequency response in both TE and TM polarizations. The highly-selective design makes it possess potential application value in security communication, radar stealth system and other stealth scenarios.
