Abstract

Internet and ISO/ITU-T management technologies have become the standard solutions for interoperable management in a multi-vendor environment and are likely to coexist for a long time. The integration of the Internet's SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) and ISO/ITU-T's CMIP (Common Management Information Protocol) has thus become the focus of several projects. This paper describes an Internet to ISO/ITU-T management proxy that allows interworking between an SNMP-based manager and a CMIP-based agent. A typical need for such a proxy arises in public network access configurations. A scenario in an ATM-based environment has been investigated.
