Abstract

In this paper, we consider standard SNMP (simple network management protocol) and CMIP (common management information protocol) as the management protocol of PCS land mobile network. Also, we present the overall structure of management information taking CDMA PCS characteristics into consideration. Then we present the optimum network management protocol stack for PCS which provides TMN (telecommunications management network) interfaces among all subsystems including wired networks. In addition, we investigate some considerations when SNMP is used as the CDMA PCS network management protocol. Finally we compare the performance of network management in the case when SNMP and CMIP are used as a CDMA PCS network management protocol.
