Abstract

Photocatalyst which are eco-friendly and cheap to produce in large scale for the treatment of organic pollutants without aid of other reagents is attractive topic for the researchers. In this regard, one step short duration hydrothermal preparation of a type II heterostructure ZnBi2O4/Bi2O3 was designed. The prepared composite shows the growth of ZnBi2O4 on Bi2O3 microrods. The prepared catalyst was well studied using various characterization techniques which conforms the formation of heterostructure and displays increased catalytic properties. This study addresses photocatalytic degradation of various dye and their kinetic study under 50 W LED. The results of this study show over 70.5 %,11.2 %, 74.2 % and 99.8 % degradation of rhodamine B (RhB), methyl orange (MO), methylene blue (MB) and congo red (CR).
