Abstract

A novel 3MHz∼18GHz wideband isotropic electric field (E-field) probe, capable of accurately measuring the strength of the electromagnetic radiation, is presented in this paper. The E-field probe mainly consists of tapered resistive dipole and a low-barrier, beam-lead Schottky detector diode. The E-field probe has the ability of measuring 0.5V/m∼1000V/m. The frequency response of the probe is within ±2.5 dB. The isotropic response with respect to angle, guaranteed by spatial mutually orthogonal dipole configuration, is within ±1 dB.
